Editorial Policy

Aim and Scope

The main goal of the journal "Vestnik SKU" is to create favorable conditions for the development of scientific research and critical reviews in thematic areas: pedagogical sciences, humanities and social sciences, technical sciences, natural and agricultural sciences.

Open Access Policy

"Vestnik of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University" is an open access journal. All articles are made freely available to readers immediatly upon publication.

Our open access policy is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition - it means that articles have free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

Peer-Review

Scientific manuscripts reviewing in the journals of “Vestnik of M. Kozybayev NKSU” publishing house is carried out in order to ensure a high scientific and theoretical level of publications, the selection of the most valuable and relevant scientific papers and to make suggestions for improving peer-reviewed materials.

Peer review principles

  1. All “Vestnik of M. Kozybayev NKSU”publications are due to compulsory review.
  2. The editorial board selects reviewers.
  3. All submitted articles are subject to peer review by at least two independent scientists (non-members of the editorial board) in the corresponding scientific area.
  4. Reviewers are specialists, who have academic degree, qualification and research experience, that allows them to carry out a competent assessment of the manuscript.
  5. Articles review is carried out in accordance with publishing ethics accepted in publishing house.
  6. Revision and manuscript refinement control is carried out by a reviewer, who undertakes initial review.
  7. Reviews of the materials submitted are kept at the publishing house during 5 years since the day of publication and their copies are sent into the supervision body by the responding request.

The terms of reviewing

  1. Reviewing of scientific papers is performed within 10 calendar days.
  2. Manuscript revision as well as re-assessment can take one month.

Material assessment Rules

Reviewer assesses article according to the following criteria:  

  1. scientific level of material (topicality, novelty, theoretical/practical significance, problem statement, conclusion phrasing, validity of conclusion and source choice;
  2. level of material presentation ( correspondence of article title to its content, the correspondence of annotation to the article content, correspondence of article size to its content, choice of key words and phrases, logic, cohesion and quality of presenting material).

Each assessment, if necessary, is accompanied by a reviewer’s detailed comment.
Based on the results of assessment, reviewer concludes that the scientific article meets the requirements or needs revision or may be accepted in its present state.

Publication decision

Based on reviewer’s comments, members of the editorial board conclude decision:

  • to publish scientific article;
  • to invite the author to revise their manuscript;
  • to reject the manuscript.

The editorial board notifies the author about final decision in a written form.
In case of article revision, the author is provided with a copy of the review and recommendations for manuscript refinement. Author can disagree with certain recommendations of the reviewer. In this case, they can prepare a reasoned objection.

 

Publishing Ethics

Authors of the articles are liable to present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts of the articles that have been previously published or transmitted to other journals are not accepted.  

Submitting the text of article for publication in the journal, the authors warrant that it was not published previously, that it is not considered for publication elsewhere, that its publication has been approved by all co-authors and other responsible organizations where the work was carried out, and that if it is accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form in English or any other language, including electronic format, without the written consent of the copyright holder. Submitted articles are tested in the “Anti-plagiarism” program.

Submitting manuscript, authors warrant that it is original and contains all the references to cited authors and/or sources (materials).

All submitted articles are subject to peer review by at least two independent scientists and by one member of the editorial board – a leading expert in the corresponding area.

Author fees

Publication in “Vestnik of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University" is free of charge for all the authors.

The journal doesn't have any Article processing charges.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.

Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

Plagiarism detection

“Vestnik of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University" use native russian-language plagiarism detection software Antiplagiat to screen the submissions. If plagiarism is identified, the COPE guidelines on plagiarism will be followed.

 

Preprint and postprint Policy

Prior to acceptance and publication in “Vestnik of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University", authors may make their submissions available as preprints on personal or public websites.

As part of submission process, authors are required to confirm that the submission has not been previously published, nor has been submitted. After a manuscript has been published in "Sovremennaya revmatologiya" (the “Modern Rheumatology Journal”) we suggest that the link to the article on journal's website is used when the article is shared on personal or public websites.

Glossary (by SHERPA)

Preprint - In the context of Open Access, a preprint is a draft of an academic article or other publication before it has been submitted for peer-review or other quality assurance procedure as part of the publication process. Preprints cover initial and successive drafts of articles, working papers or draft conference papers.
 
Postprint - The final version of an academic article or other publication - after it has been peer-reviewed and revised into its final form by the author. As a general term this covers both the author's final version and the version as published, with formatting and copy-editing changes in place.

 

Revenue Sources

The publication of the journal is financed by the funds of the parent organization, at the expense of the publisher, publication of advertising materials, publication of reprints, article processment charges.
