Abstract

The article actualizes the problem of developing the readiness of a future mathematics teacher to teach schoolchildren to solve Olympiad problems. Based on the analysis of scientific and methodological sources and the results of mathematics students’ self-assessment of their readiness for this type of activity, the need for a systematic approach to solving the identified problem is substantiated. The study outlines the author's view of the university training system aimed at developing future mathematics teachers with mathematical and methodological competencies that determine their readiness to teach schoolchildren to solve Olympiad problems, and outlines the problems that may arise during its implementation.
